SBSA students attend an entrepreneurial workshop by Dr. Zimbroff from Lincoln University (USA)

On 11^th June 2019, SBSA seized upon an opportunity made possible by SeyCCAT (Seychelles' Conservation and Climate Adaptation Trust), which made available the services of Dr. Zimbroff, a professor from Lincoln University, USA.

Dr. Zimbroff , having extensive experience with hosting 3-day start-up workshops and making a case for entrepreneurship modules in the formal education curriculum, was in Seychelles on the 11th June 2019 and held an afternoon workshop with SBSA students, all volunteers, around fifteen in number.

The afternoon allowed for a stripped-down version of a 3-day training workshop, where students were exposed to the most meaningful components of early stage entrepreneurship within the set time frame. 

The aim of the workshop was to expose business-minded youth to an innovative approach to business model creation and market research, and to leave the students with a foundational knowledge of the components required for early-stage entrepreneurship and the concepts to move their business ideas forward.

Miss Dorea Madeleine (a participant from BMA1B): “It was very interesting, I learned new things. It helped us to put our thoughts in order and how to put them down on paper. It made us think about what we actually want, which ideas are better than others, to plan and find solutions to problems, in short how to move from a problem to a solution with the end goal being to get to the customers. Dr. Zimbroff was very friendly, open and interactive, and not at all formal, Surprisingly, we used pen and paper rather than relying on computers, for the occasion.”
